Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea will be hard to take for fans, and it seemed like it was a really tough night in the mind of Danny Rose too. He walked down the tunnel at the end of the game, came back out, and was pictured standing on the pitch contemplating the afternoon before warming down.
The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer of 2021 and came on after 74 minutes. He’s made just nine starts so far this season in the league and has seen his quality decline consistently over the last four years. WhoScored’s ratings signify this, with his score so far this term sitting at 6.54/10 compared to the previous three years of 6.84/10, 6.74/10 and 7.42/10.
Spurs fan account The Spurs Web posted a picture of the Englishman stood on the pitch after the game and claimed he “gets it” despite the fact they think he’s “declining”. Many fans commented, with most showing sympathy with the player, but they agreed that he’s simply not good enough for the club anymore.
He may not be the world’s best LB, he may be declining, he may not be at the peak of his game.
But Danny Rose stood on the pitch for a solid 15 minutes, contemplating the afternoon. I do feel sorry for him, he has been here since day 1.

You can see some of their reactions to the tweet below:
Shame he’s one of the worst footballers in our current squad. Mentality and ‘getting it’ can only get you so far.

Unfortunately, as much as people like him, he’s just not good enough though.

He’s not good enough anymore sadly

He does get it. And so do I but I know I’m not good enough to play left back for Spurs.
