Tottenham Hotspur: Fans disagree with Dan Kilpatrick’s verdict on Dele Alli

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans disagree with journalist Dan Kilpatrick’s verdict on Dele Alli following his performance in the 3-0 defeat against RB Leipzig.
Kilpatrick tweeted that Alli was playing ‘fairly well’ and was getting ‘fouled a lot’, which encouraged many contradictory replies from Spurs fans. Alli was fouled the most times in the game according to Sofascore (7), but one fan tweeted that the midfielder ‘lost plenty of balls’, which was statistically true as the English international lost possession 23 times in the game, more than any other player on the pitch.
He also failed to register a key pass or an interception, landing him a disappointing score of 6, second-worst only to Ryan Sessegnon.
Alli only managed one goal and one assist in the Champions League this season, as Spurs failed to score against Leipzig with the 23-year old being asked to play higher up the pitch from Jose Mourinho due to key injuries up front (via Transfermarkt).
These Spurs fans were unhappy with Alli’s performance, with one fan telling Kilpatrick that Alli was ‘not clever enough’:
#thfc Alli has played fairly well. Fouled a lot.

Complains about it instead of changing his in game tactics to get past fouls/draw more cynical fouls for yellows. Not clever enough.

Disagree, he lost plenty of balls an did bad shot in only chance in second half.

And he kicks straight to goal keeper. Solid

You must be watching a game from last year?
— Steven Long (@steven_long49) March 10, 2020
Yeah, if the standard we’re going for is a League 1 relegation condemned side who are just happy to see a player put a few good dribbles in
