The Jose Mourinho era at Tottenham is in full swing now and, while his remit is fairly obvious as things stand in terms of aiming to finish in the top four, what the Portuguese will do in the long-term remains to be seen.
Should Mourinho bother trying to persuade Eriksen to stay?
Not a manager known for his ability to build a project over a number of years given he rarely stays at one club for longer than three years and the first coach to spend £1b on transfers during his career, his CV does appear to be at odds with the vision Mauricio Pochettino had back in 2014 when he took up a struggling side and turned them into Champions Leauge finalists.
Still, the Portuguese is going to have to make some big decisions fairly quickly. Indeed, key players such as Christian Eriksen are out of contract at the end of the season after previously saying he wanted to leave, so how the former Chelsea boss approaches the situation here will be interesting.
Obviously, losing a player of his quality potentially on a free transfer would be a major blow and Mourinho did tell BT Sport (via talkSPORT) that he remained unsure of his future, while claiming they would make any decision in the best interests of the club.
With that in mind, Football.London journalist Alasdair Gold actually took to Twitter to ask fans how they’d think the new Spurs chief would deal with the saga and a look at some of the replies give an interesting insight into the feeling amongst sections of the support.
As you can imagine, it seems the majority of those below are backing Mourinho to take a hardline stance and get rid of the former Ajax man quickly.
Just get rid of him even when he came on yesterday he was the worst player on the pitch he has lost it
