Tottenham Hotspur: Fans don’t think Eric Dier will get back to his best - Tottenham

Many Tottenham Hotspur fans do not believe that Eric Dier will get back to his best, even under the tutelage of new manager Jose Mourinho.

The England international joined Spurs from Sporting Lisbon in 2014 and under Mauricio Pochettino was a key figure for the club for a number of years.

Indeed back in the 16/17 season, Dier had some impressive stats to his name, including playing the most successful passes, the second-most interceptions and blocks and third most tackles amongst his teammates since August 2015 (@thespursweb).

However, last season he struggled with a few different injuries and illness (Transfermarkt) and since then he has struggled to return to his best form.

Indeed this term in his seven appearances he has lost possession on average 13.4 times per game, won just 54% of his duels and missed two big goalscoring opportunities (SofaScore).

Despite those stats he has been a regular since Mourinho took over, starting seven of his eight matches in charge (Transfermarkt).

Mourinho is perhaps hoping that by playing Dier regularly, he will eventually get back to the level that he was at a couple of years ago.

However, it seems that quite a few Spurs fans do not believe that the 25-year-old can rediscover his top form. Here is what some said when asked if he could get back to his best on Twitter…

Spurs fans, do you think that you will see the best of Eric Dier under Jose Mourinho? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
