The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are increasingly frustrated about the complexion of their summer window thus far.
Indeed, Spurs are the only Premier League club yet to bring in a summer addition and injuries to the likes of Kieran Trippier and Victor Wanyama seriously impact their options heading into their season opener against Newcastle United.
So, it’s fair to say our local Lilywhites could do with some cheering up. Indeed, reports from the Sun move to do exactly that as they claim Tottenham are in talks with Ajax over their highly-rated Colombian defender, Davinson Sanchez.
With Kyle Walker having departed for Manchester City, Mauricio Pochettino’s defence could do with some strengthening and the Colombian certainly would represent a coup. Having starred in the Dutch capital last season, the £35m-rated defender is understood to be of interest to the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona, though Spurs reportedly believe they are in pole position.
Able to operate at either a right-back or a central defender, the 21-year-old would be a truly exciting addition to the rank on Hotspur Way and our Tottenham-mad drinkers would be delighted to see him arrive.
Tottenham may have endured a frustrating few months, though the potential capture of one the most exciting defensive prospects in Europe would go some way into righting some of those wrongs.
Indeed, Sanchez seems absolutely destined for a big future and the idea of him improving under Mauricio Pochettino over the next few years makes for a genuinely exciting notion.
