Tottenham Hotspur: Fans fume at revelation that the club were close to signing Philippe Coutinho before Daniel Levy intervened

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans are fuming at the revelation that the north London club had an agreement in place to sign Philippe Coutinho before Daniel Levy intervened.
Information from SPORT was relayed by Ricky Sacks and TranSPURS on Twitter and highlighted some key downfalls as to why the Coutinho to Spurs transfer failed to materialise.
The report explained that the Lilywhites had a deal in place but Levy reduced the financial offer at the last minute, leaving the Brazilian international outraged and thus a potential transfer in this summer window now seems unlikely.
Coutinho joined Bayern Munich on loan from Barcelona instead and has since made 32 appearances in all competitions for the German side, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists, according to Transfermarkt.
Spurs supporters know what the 27-year old is capable of from his time in England with Liverpool, where he scored 54 goals and provided 45 assists in 201 games in all competitions for the Reds, as per Transfermarkt.
These fans are fuming at Levy for letting the midfielder go from under their grasp and voiced their opinions on Twitter:
There’s smart financial decisions, and there’s dumb business. This is the latter
