Tottenham Hotspur: Fans gutted with latest transfer news as Hakim Ziyech joins Chelsea

Chelsea have announced that they have agreed a deal to sign Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech (via @ChelseaFC).
The Moroccan international still needs to agree to personal terms, but should that happen, he will officially join the club in the summer ahead of the 2020/21 campaign. According to Sky Sports, the Blues will pay £33.6m for the 26-year-old’s services, although that could rise to £36.7m depending on add-ons.
Tottenham Hotspur were previously linked with a move for the former Twente man and their former player Rafael van der Vaart even urged Daniel Levy to sign the playmaker in the January transfer window (Express).
However, no move ever materialised from Spurs, who ended up signing Steven Bergwijn and Gedson Fernandes last month, whilst also making Giovani Lo Celso’s loan move permanent. Ziyech has been a vital player for Ajax in recent times; this season alone he has managed to score eight goals and provide an impressive 21 assists in just 30 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Should Tottenham have moved for Ziyech?
Yes

No

It seems that quite a few Tottenham supporters are upset that they didn’t sign Ziyech and that he has joined their London rivals. Indeed, many have taken to Twitter to express their sadness that they didn’t get the Moroccan – here is what some had to say…
ABSOLUTELY GUTTED Spurs didn’t go in for Ziyech. Fair play to Chelsea, got an absolute baller there. More signings like that and they will be a force again.

Gutted we didn’t move for Hakim Ziyech in all honesty. After Van der Vaart tapped him up for us, it felt like it was somewhat on the cards in a weird way.
That being said, @StevenBergwijn is a similar player and he’s proper COYS already. *Does Bergwijn celebration* #COYS pic.twitter.com/MPdXNUpqHU
