Oliver Skipp may now remain at Tottenham Hotspur rather than going out on loan in the January transfer window, that is according to a report from The Athletic via Ricky Sacks.
It was previously reported by The Athletic that the midfielder, along with Kyle Walker-Peters would be sent out on loan by Spurs this month to get more minutes under their belts.
However, with Moussa Sissoko now ruled out until at least April due to an injury (tottenhamhotspur.com) it seems that the club will now keep hold of Skipp to ensure that they have enough cover in central midfield.
The 19-year-old has barely featured so far this season, making just three cameo appearances in the Premier League equating to just 10 minutes on the pitch (Transfermarkt).
He was slightly more involved last year, making eight league appearances whilst also starting twice in the FA Cup (Transfermarkt) and so does have some first-team experience.
And it seems that he has shown many Spurs fans enough in his limited game time to suggest that he could make the step up into the first team in Sissoko’s absence.
Indeed many are happy that Skipp could be set to stay with the club and if he does they would like to see him given more opportunities.
Here is what some said on Twitter…
Better than Dier, Winks and Wanyama.

I’m ok with this. We need long term replacements at RB and DMF

Hope he gets some game time as well

Skipp has to be close to a deserved starting berth now. Possesses a lot of attributes Spurs require at the base of the midfield

The lad is a serious player..give him minutes

With Sissoko out this is a no-brainer. I’d also consider bringing Amos back from loan, especially if we are not bringing in another DM this month.
