Harry Kane is frustrated that Jose Mourinho has left him out of Tottenham Hotspur’s squad to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League tonight, that is according to the Evening Standard.
The game at the Allianz Arena is a dead rubber as both clubs have already qualified for the knockout stages, hence why the Portuguese has made the decision to rest the striker.
But according to the report, the England captain wanted to face the Germans in order to boost his hopes of winning the Golden Boot.
The 26-year-old has scored six times in five appearances in this year’s competition and only trails Red Bull Salzburg’s Erling Braut Haaland and Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski, who have netted eight and 10 respectively (BBC Sport).
Despite Kane’s apparent frustrations, it seems that most Spurs fans are happy with Mourinho’s decision to rest their talismanic forward, with one supporter questioning whether former boss Mauricio Pochettino would have done the same.
Indeed, the club are set to embark on a gruelling festive schedule which will see them play five Premier League games in just 18 days (Transfermarkt), so several supporters believe it is a good choice by their manager to give Kane a rest and keep him fresh.
Here is what some have said on Twitter…
He can do it in the knock out rounds! Good to rest Harry – stay fresh 💪

Nope. Agree with José here. No point him busting his ankle in a dead-rubber

Good idea tbh. Would rather him not get injured and would like to see other youngsters.

Jose is right to do it
Team comes first, which means he should be rested for important game… and youngsters gain competitive game
