Jose Mourinho is keen to bring Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare to Tottenham Hotspur this January, that is according to a report from L’Equipe, via Ricky Sacks.
Would Boubakary Soumare be an upgrade on Eric Dier?
The 20-year-old has been a regular for the Ligue 1 outfit this season, starting 13 times in the league and in all six of their UEFA Champions League group stage outings (Transfermarkt).
He is a defensive-minded midfielder who has been capped at under-21 level by France (Transfermarkt), and with Spurs struggling in that position at the moment Mourinho may well see him as a long-term fix.
Eric Dier has been the Portuguese manager’s preferred option in holding midfield, but the England man has struggled and on average he wins just 52% of his total duels per match (SofaScore).
It seems that Soumare would certainly be a popular signing amongst the Tottenham faithful, with many taking to Twitter to suggest that he is exactly the sort of player they need to sign.
Here is what some had to say…
Him and ndombele would be the best midfield in the league hth
