Jose Mourinho is keen on taking James Rodriguez to Tottenham Hotspur in January, that is according to sources in Spain via Calciomercato.

The midfielder is currently back at Real Madrid after spending two years on loan with Bayern Munich, but he has struggled to make much of an impact at the Bernabeu this term.

Indeed, he has started just four times for Los Blancos in La Liga and has recently been out of action due to a ligament injury (Transfermarkt).

According to El Desmarque, the Colombian is not part of Zinedine Zidane’s long-term plans and, therefore, could be available when the transfer window opens next month.

Mourinho has tried to sign Rodriguez in the past. Whilst he was in charge at Manchester United, it was reported that he tried to take the creative midfielder to Old Trafford (The Independent).

However, it appears that many Spurs fans wouldn’t be too keen on signing the 28-year-old. Some think that he is past his best, whilst others simply feel that he wouldn’t fit in and isn’t what they need.
