Loads of Tottenham Hotspur have shot down a suggestion by The Spurs Web that Eric Dier could play as a temporary striker for them.
The north London club are currently in the midst of a crisis up front. Harry Kane has been ruled out until at least April with a hamstring injury (tottenhamhotspur.com) and they are now also without Son Heung-min, with Jose Mourinho suggesting that the South Korean could miss the rest of the season due to an arm fracture (BBC Sport).
Steven Bergwijn filled in as a makeshift centre-forward in their last game against Chelsea (Transfermarkt), but The Spurs Web suggest that Dier is another who could do that job.
They point to the fact that whilst at Manchester United, Mourinho often used Marouane Fellaini as a target man and suggest that he could do a similar thing with the former Sporting Lisbon man.
However, it seems that most Spurs fans don’t think that Dier should be used up front with many taking to Twitter to shoot down the idea. Here is what some had to say about it…
My word that’s a stretch… ‘desperate times’ & the notion that someone quite big can do a job as a target man because they’re, quite big is… wow. pic.twitter.com/jv83kqMEAE

Bilmey, I know things are bad at the moment, granted….But really ?????

Interesting but fundamentally flawed as Dier has no pace and is not skilful/clever enough. Why not try Parrott? I respect JM’s opinion but the lad is a striker, has been trained as a striker and has scored plenty of goals at lower levels. Surely he’s worth a try.
