Tottenham Hotspur fans pleased to see solid performance by Moussa Sissoko

Tottenham Hotspur fans were quite satisfied with Moussa Sissoko’s performance against Manchester City on Monday evening, suggesting he was their best player on the pitch as Pep Guardiola’s men claimed a 1-0 win at Wembley.
In what was a rather frustrating night for Spurs, that saw them miss a few proper chances to score, Sissoko’s commitment and hard work didn’t go unnoticed by the faithful.
With Harry Winks, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli all on the bench, the latter returning from a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for about a month, Sissoko had an important role to play if Spurs were to unsettle the defending champions. Despite the result, the club’s fans were pleased to see the former Newcastle United man raise his performance level against a quality outfit like City after being criticised in the past for not being up to standard with the rest of the squad.
Here are some of the Twitter reactions by Spurs fans:
Didn’t think I’d ever tweet this but Sissoko had a brilliant game tonight. Get him a new contract!

Sissoko is in ‘playing for a new contract’ mode.
Created by Emmanuel Adebayor.

Best player out there for us tonight… gave it his all!!

I’ve said it many times. He showed why Poch plays him when fit. His role is to drive forward, break up play and and win the ball. Not to do flicks and tricks. #TOTMCI

Majority of the time he deserves all the criticism however, admittedly tonight he stood out

He was by far our best player tonight. There are many others who have done far worse than him this season…

Apart from wanting him you shoot (instead of cutting it back) I can’t criticise his performance today. When the subs were being readied I crossed my fingers that it was not for Sissoko.

@MoussaSissoko looked like the player we believed we had signed. Well done to the lad. Unlucky tonight.

Thought we gave as good as we got today and deserved something from the game. Best performance I’ve seen by @MoussaSissoko MOTM IMO. Best compliment I can give us today is I’ve never seen a #MCFC team have to waste time like they did today. We had them rattled! #COYS
