Tottenham Hotspur: Fans praise Steven Bergwijn for his display against Aston Villa

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur supporters were left buzzing with the display of new signing Steven Bergwijn in their 3-2 victory against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday.
A Son Heung-min brace and a goal from Toby Alderweireld sealed all three points for Spurs in a topsy turvy game at Villa Park but it was the Dutch international who gained many of the plaudits from fans on social media.
It was only Bergwijn’s second appearance for the north London outfit having joined from PSV Eindhoven in January, but he seems to have slotted in seamlessly and he did indeed produce a strong performance, which can be backed up by the statistics.
In the 90 minutes, the 22-year-old played three key passes, took three shots on goal which were blocked, had a 100% crossing accuracy and won a penalty kick. Added to that, he also showed that he can contribute defensively too by winning seven ground duels, two aerial duels and four tackles (SofaScore).
His performance certainly caught the eye of plenty of Spurs fans, many of whom took to Twitter to wax lyrical about their new forward. Here is what some had to say about his display…
I agree. Bergwijn was our most dangerous player. Can’t for the life of me figure out why we played almost everything down the right through Aurier instead of getting Bergwijn more involved. #COYS #THFC @SpursOfficial

He is seriously exciting! get him along with a fit N’Dombele & Lo Celso. That is going to be ruthless.
