Tottenham Hotspur: Fans question Mauricio Pochettino’s loan policy

Several Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been critical of Mauricio Pochettino on social media recently following comments made by Jose Mourinho about the future of several young players.
The Portuguese admitted that whilst Troy Parrott would be given some first-team opportunities in the near future, other youngsters such as Oliver Skipp and Japhet Tanganga could leave the club on loan in the January transfer window to further their development (via Evening Standard).
This is something that his predecessor refused to do, as he insisted that it was better for their development to remain at Spurs and work under his coaching staff.
That often meant that several of their promising young players ended up playing very little first-team football as they struggled to break into the starting XI – with one notable exception being Harry Winks, who has played 119 times for the club to date (Transfermarkt).
After seeing that their talented youth players are set to be sent out on loan by Mourinho to gain experience, several Spurs fans were delighted.
Many of them also chose to criticise Pochettino’s loan policy, suggesting that it held their top young talents back…
At long last. Young players have been losing time in their careers with Poch’s loan policy. It was a complete mess.

Poch was terrible with our youth players. Looking forward to the change in policy.

One of Pochs worst ideas

Unsure wat was Poch’s thinking. But after reading Townsend’s and Caulker’s stories, more care needs to be given to our loanees. Either way the youth player may lose. But which is worse.

It baffles me looking back how Pochettino thinks Kane became the great player he is without loan spells? He didn’t just become, I think with each passing day I really do question Poch’s decision making on the youth specifically.

We’ve lost some terrific young talent too because of a lack of opportunities
