Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, that is according to a report from Spanish news outlet El Desmarque.
The report suggests that owner Daniel Levy has entered into negotiations with the Serie A club for the 28-year-old, who is thought to have asked to leave in the January transfer window.
Signing the Senegalese defender would certainly represent good business for Spurs, who have struggled defensively this season.
Indeed, they have already conceded 26 goals in just 18 Premier League matches so far, including two in their most recent outing against Chelsea (BBC Sport).
Added to that, one of their centre-backs, Jan Vertonghen, could leave the club in the summer with his contract set to expire (Transfermarkt). Therefore, bringing in a new player to cover that position is likely to be high on Jose Mourinho’s list of priorities.
It seems that most Spurs fans are sceptical, however, with many struggling to believe that the club will sign Koulibaly next month as Napoli are thought to want €100 million (£85.6 million) for his services.
