Tottenham Hotspur: Fans react as club tweets out throwback post of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon - Tottenham

Many Tottenham fans have been left miserable and reminiscing of better days when the club tweeted out an “#onthisday” tweet showing highlights of when Spurs beat Arsenal at White Hart Lane in 2013, with one supporter saying the footage made them ‘sad’.

Spurs won 2-1, with Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon scoring the goals in the heated fixture. Seven years on, Spurs are currently struggling to gain any real momentum in the Premier League after appointing Jose Mourinho and currently sit in 7th. Indeed, they lost 3-2 their last fixture at home to Wolves, which could have seen them end the weekend in 5th if they won.

Tottenham also have the second leg of their Champions League tie next Tuesday (10th March) away to RB Leipzig, with the German side leading 1-0 after the first leg. It’s safe to say that Spurs are in a rocky patch and throwbacks like the one tweeted out earlier today aren’t helping to lift the fans’ heads up.

Here’s what fans are tweeting in reply to Tottenham’s post earlier today:

Spurs fans, would you sign Bale back if you could? Comment below!
