Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed that midfielder Christian Eriksen has left the club and joined Inter Milan (via @SpursOfficial).
The Danish international’s contract with the club was set to expire in the summer, so Spurs have decided to cash in now and have therefore sold him to the Serie A outfit. According to BBC Sport, Inter will pay £16.9 million for the 27-year-old.
Eriksen joined Tottenham in 2013 from Ajax and in total made 305 appearances for the north London club, scoring 69 goals in that time whilst also providing 89 assists (Transfermarkt). Despite telling the club in the summer that he wanted to leave (Telegraph), the Dane continued to feature regularly this season and made 20 Premier League appearances, scoring twice (Transfermarkt).
His exit has been a prolonged saga, but now that he has officially gone plenty of Spurs fans have been quick to wish him good luck on social media. Indeed, many have taken to Twitter to thank Eriksen for what he did for the club during his time there, here is what some had to say…
Good luck Chris. Will miss you bro, you’ve been phenomenal over the 7 years. All the best Danish king
