Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay Norwich City £45 million if they want to sign right-back Max Aarons this January, that is according to a report from the Athletic.
Do you trust Jose Mourinho to spend money wisely?
The England under-21 international has been a regular for the Canaries this season, starting 19 of their opening 21 games in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).
His performances are thought to have caught the eyes of many at Spurs, who according to The Athletic also showed an interest in him back in the summer.
Right-back has been a problem area for Jose Mourinho, with Serge Aurier failing to impress whilst Kyle Walker-Peters is well out of favour having not featured in the Premier League since August (Transfermarkt). This season, the Canaries ace has actually kept the ball more than Aurier (boasting a higher pass completion rate by 1%) and he is also dribbled past less (0.5 to 1 per WhoScored), so does look to be at least a slightly more conservative option.
It, therefore, wouldn’t be a surprise if he targeted signing a new full-back this month and Aarons could be one of the names on his shortlist.
However, it seems that several Spurs fans think that £45m is far too expensive and wouldn’t want their team to spend that much on the 19-year-old.
Here is what some had to say about Aarons’ price tag on Twitter…

45 mill nah. He is good but not that good. We need to get Koulibaly, imagine Sanchez and Koulibaly. Plus Soumare, and Everton Soares for more creativity.
