RB Leipzig will be without three key centre-backs for their Champions League last 16 first leg tie against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday, according to UEFA.
The two teams are set to lock horns in London in what could be a tight game, with both in decent form right now. Indeed, Jose Mourinho’s side come into it off the back of three straight wins in all competitions, whilst the German outfit recently followed up a solid draw against Bayern Munich by beating Werder Bremen 3-0.
However, it seems that Spurs could be given an advantage in the fixture, with Leipzig reportedly facing an injury crisis in central defence. UEFA stated that Dayot Upamecano is suspended and therefore definitely ruled out, whilst also suggesting that both Ibrahima Konate and Willi Orban are injured.
The trio were all involved for the Bundesliga side in the group stages, with Upamecano featuring five times, Orban playing in three games whilst Konate appeared twice (UEFA).
This may well give Spurs the edge in the game and many fans are certainly hoping that is the case. Indeed, some have taken to Twitter to admit that it is a boost for the north London club, with one fan suggesting that it evened things up given that they are without a fit recognised striker due to the absence of Harry Kane.
