Tottenham Hotspur have been alerted to the potential availability of midfielder Thiago Alcantara, who could be set to leave Bayern Munich in the summer.
According to German news outlet BILD, the Bundesliga outfit could be prepared to allow the Spanish international to leave at the end of the season despite the player still having a year left on his contract.
Thiago has actually been a regular for Bayern this season, starting in 12 of their 18 league fixtures and scoring one goal, which came in their most recent win against Hertha Berlin (Transfermarkt).
However, the report from BILD suggests that he will be available in a few months’ time and, as well as Spurs, London rivals Chelsea and Arsenal are also thought to be keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
If Tottenham were to sign him, then he would certainly add some control and composure to their midfield. Indeed this season he has completed 91% of his attempted passes and completed 89% of his dribbles. He also loses possession just 9.1 times on average per game (SofaScore).
And it seems that he would be a popular signing amongst the Spurs fanbase, many of whom have taken to Twitter to suggest that if they could get him, he would be a brilliant addition. Here is what some had to say…
