Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to Kieran Trippier’s revelation that he ‘needed to move on’ in the summer after his old comments were relayed by The Spurs Web on Twitter.
Speaking earlier in the campaign, the full-back said that ‘things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham’, which prompted The Spurs Web to suggest that ‘something is not right’ at the club in their post. Trippier did not want to comment further on his remark but it probably left a lot of Spurs fans wondering exactly what he meant.
Since joining Atletico Madrid, Trippier has managed to provide four assists in 25 games in all competitions. He also provided a further 24 assists in 114 appearances in all competitions during his time with Tottenham (via Transfermarkt).
Spurs and England fans will remember the free-kick he scored in the 2018 World Cup semi-final against Croatia, which sent many fans wild (via YouTube). England unfortunately went on to lose to the Croatians 2-1 after extra-time to miss their opportunity of playing in another World Cup final.
These Spurs fans reacted to The Spurs Web post on Twitter, with one fan even suggesting that Trippier ‘should never have left’:
🗣 Kieran Trippier in the summer:
"I don't necessarily mean that I needed to move on, but things happened behind the scenes at Tottenham, which I don't really want to go into, but I needed to move on from that."

Losing him and Llorente were catastrophic decisions. We let the wrong players go basically…

The abuse he got was shocking, while Danny Rose got away with it (because “he gets it”)

Very very smart lad

Fans slagging him off every week probably made him leave we have the most toxic fan base
