The loss to Watford aside, it’s been a strong start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur. Indeed, despite their lack of transfer activity over the course of the summer, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have otherwise started the campaign strongly, with Lucas Moura particularly impressing.
The Brazilian, who moved to North London from Paris Saint-Germain back in January, has already bagged three goals this season and, after a slow start to his Spurs career, emerging as a potent attacking option. In fact, as a palpable goal threat from a wide area, perhaps you could even compare him to Liverpool’s Mo Salah.
Clearly, he’s got a long way to go before he’s on the kind of level Salah was last season, though it’s not hard to see the comparison in terms of playing style. Searingly quick and boasting a lethal finish, we recently asked our Tottenham supporting readers whether THEY believed he could replicate Salah’s record-breaking campaign last year.
Interestingly, a huge 75% of those who voted believe he CAN. Whether or not he quite reaches 32 goals in a single Premier League remains to be seen, though in terms of shocking everyone to become one of the best finishers in the league, Moura certainly has the backing.
