Tottenham Hotspur: Fans want club to sign Merih Demiral in January - Tottenham

Plenty of Tottenham Hotspur fans have admitted that they would love the club to sign Merih Demiral in the January transfer window.

The centre-back only joined Juventus in the summer for a fee of €18 million (£15m) (juventus.com), but according to Turkish Football, he is keeping his options open due to a lack of first-team opportunities in Turin.

Indeed, the 21-year-old has played just twice in all competitions this season (Transfermarkt) and Turkish Football suggest that four Premier League clubs are in talks with Demiral’s representatives over a potential transfer.

Spurs are thought to be one of those clubs, whilst their north London rivals Arsenal and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United are also showing an interest. Jose Mourinho does already have a central defender like Davinson Sanchez to call upon but, with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen set to leave next summer as things stand, the Portuguese coach may need some reinforcements.

According to the report from Turkish Football, Demiral wants to move to England and although Juventus would rather keep hold of him, they would be prepared to listen to offers of €35 million (£29m) for the 6 foot 3 powerhouse.

After learning that the defender may be on the move next month, lots of Spurs fans have suggested that he would be an ideal signing for them as they look to strengthen at the back.
