Jose Mourinho would like to make Gareth Bale his first major signing as Tottenham Hotspur manager, that is according to a report from Wales Online.
The Welsh international, valued at £54m by Transfermarkt, left Spurs for Real Madrid back in 2013 and he has gone on to help the Spanish giants win four UEFA Champions League titles.
Should Tottenham re-sign Gareth Bale?
However, in the last year, he has consistently been linked with leaving the Bernabeu and was close to moving to the Chinese Super League in the summer (BBC Sport).
The move never happened and he remained in Madrid, but recently his position at the club has become almost untenable.
After he celebrated with his Welsh teammates in front of a flag which had written on it “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order”, several Los Blancos fans responded angrily with a flag of their own which read: “Rodrygo. Vini. Lucas. Bale. In that order” (Mirror).
Wales Online are reporting that Mourinho is ready to capitalise on Bale’s situation in the Spanish capital and that he has been urged by two Tottenham stalwarts to make the move happen in order to get the fans on side.
It seems that signing Bale would do just that judging by the reaction of several supporters on Twitter after being linked with him. Here is what some had to say…
I’d take him back, manage him properly and there shouldn’t be an issue, he’d have to take a huge pay cut though, this is where we see if he moves for football reasons or money

I’ll Take his signing over Ibrahimovic, he has experience and he’s younger
We need a winner in our team

I’d take him back in a heart beat. Full Spurs and has Davies as a super familiar face.

I’d have Bale back, he along with Jose knows what it takes to win titles and big trophies.
