It was a fairly miserable performance for Tottenham Hotspur last night as they were beaten by RB Leipzig at home in the Champions League during a game in which they had just 44% of possession in their own stadium.
Indeed, while the German outfit’s lead is far from insurmountable, the tactical approach deployed by manager Jose Mourinho drew criticism from the likes of Miguel Delaney and Jermaine Jenas as Leipzig missed a number of well-worked chances to put the game potentially out of sight.
Still, one man did impress a number of football fans online in the shape of Giovani Lo Celso. The Argentine was able to attack the opposition with four dribbles (per WhoScored) which was the joint-highest number in the Spurs team, take three shots (the joint-highest number) and attempt two through balls (the most in the team at a 50% success rate) and actually drew comparison amongst supporters to an international teammate of his, namely Lionel Messi.
Widely regarded as one of the best players of all-time, Messi has obviously achieved far more than his compatriot but the former PSG man did appear to remind those below of the Barcelona legend with his impressive performance.
With that in mind, here’s a look at some of the comments.

These solo runs from Lo Celso are ridiculous. Messi does that and you read about it for weeks.
