Will Harry Kane leave Tottenham next summer?
However, when Ricky Sacks tweeted out the article, it became clear that many Tottenham Hotspur fans didn’t share his sentiment:
[@RobGuesty] | The night Tanguy Ndombele stepped up and really announced himself at Spurs on the grandest stage.
— Ricky Sacks (@RickSpur) October 2, 2019
In fact, it was pretty clear that many fans wholeheartedly disagreed, with some claiming that it is pretty impossible for a player to truly announce themselves on such a humiliating night, while others poked holes in the Frenchman’s individual performance – with the main criticism being that he trailed off as the game went on.
The 22-year-old summer signing lasted 64 minutes on the pitch, completing 2 dribbles, 1 of his 5 attempted tackles, 1 clearance, 1 interception, 2 key passes and 88% of his attempted passes, as per WhoScored.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the comment, including posts from disbelieving Spurs fans, can be seen below:
I’m not sure a 30 minute display in a 7-2 loss can ever count as ‘announcing’ yourself.

The night he stepped up and we let 7 goals in at home for the first time in our history

You do know we lost 7-2, right?

He was at fault for 1st goal Ricky and also for not tracking back or tackling v Olympiacos…didn`t really announce himself to me yet….still too languid, not alert enough or sensing danger

I am so confused, were you at the game? He at best had a good 10 minutes in total and then struggled to keep pace. He will come good it’s clear to see but it most definitely wasn’t a night where he announced himself.

Starts well in games then fades badly. Is he mentally not giving his all or is this a fitness thing? Hopefully the latter. I’m still not convinced he’s good enough to push us on – we’ve gone so far backwards this season. When Sissoko’s our best player we’ve got serious problems.
