Daniel Levy is set to offer Christian Eriksen a £230,000-a-week contract to stay at Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football Insider.
Could James Maddison replace Christian Eriksen?
The Denmark international’s current deal, which is worth £75,000-a-week, will expire in the summer of 2020, as per Spotrac.
In a bid to prevent the eventuality of losing him for free, Levy is looking to hold him down to a bumper deal:

However, there are many Spurs fans who don’t think the Denmark international deserves it, with lots of them having grown increasingly frustrated with him as the season has progressed, with one even calling him a ‘mercenary snake’ when he assisted Denmark’s winner against Switzerland.
The 27-year-old has started 6 games across the Premier League and Champions League this season, coming on as a substitute for 4, as per WhoScored – with his only goal earning a draw against Arsenal, while his one assist helped to earn a win against Southampton.
However, he has had frustrating individual moments, such as the penalty miss in the shootout loss against Colchester United.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the report, including posts from bemused Spurs fans, can be seen below:
What’s the point? His issue isn’t about money, his recent performances speaks volumes. He just wants to leave. Get rid and let’s move on.

And his transformation to become spurs Ozil will be complete.

He ain’t worth £20k a week a minute he’s forgot how to play football… how about these players earn their pay and new contracts like the old days rather than just throwing money at them. If we’ve got that sort of money let’s bring Dybala in and start this rebuild

Too late, his performances don’t deserve a new contract, I’d rather that money was saved for a better player.

He’s disrespected our badge and the fans. As a player you give 100% regardless.

Kick him out. No name on the back of the shirt is bigger than the badge on the front.
