When Ryan Sessegnon signed for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, he likely will have been wondering how he would go on to make his debut for the club.
Should Lo Celso replace Christian Eriksen ASAP?
He may have envisioned the feeling of starting a game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, or maybe coming off the bench to make an impact for his team.
That wasn’t how it eventually turned out though, as he came on to replace Christian Eriksen in the 102nd minute of the 1-1 draw against Everton:
90+12 – @RyanSessegnon makes his Spurs debut.

Many fans were furious with Mauricio Pochettino’s decision for two reasons: how anti-climactic a debut it would turn out to be for Sessegnon and how long Eriksen was on the pitch.
Plenty of the club’s supporters have grown tired of having Eriksen around, so they would have much preferred if he had been taken off far earlier, especially as it would have given Sessegnon more time on his debut.
A selection of Twitter reaction to the substitution, including posts from frustrated Spurs fans, can be seen below:

90+12 minutes too long for Eriksen to be on that pitch
