It’s barely been a flying start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur, with the Spurs fans propping up the bar haunted by the collapse towards the tail end of the previous campaign.
With the North London outfit yet to hit top gear this season, those hailing from White Hart Lane in this evening have been venting their frustration.
Only Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama have been brought in over the course of the summer, making some of the punters nervous ahead of the club’s venture into the Champions League.
Still, reports from the Daily Mirror have even the most anxious dancing on the pool tables this evening.
While it’s barely in the form of a new signing, winger Erik Lamela is reportedly set to be offered a new deal.
During his first season with the club, following his move from Roma, the Argentina midfielder was lamented and labelled a flop by the Spurs fans who frequent our halls.
However, since the arrival of compatriot Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout, the 24-year-old has developed into perhaps the most perfect Gareth Bale replacement.
Such is the rapid nature of his improvement with the club, they are understood to be open to rewarding him with fresh terms, ones that better reflect his standing as one of the most important players.
Despite having three years left to run on his deal, top brass at White Hart Lane are said to be determined to secure his long-term future.
Along with the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Eric Dier, the former River Plate youngster is a major part of a burgeoning young squad.
