Oliver Skipp has overtaken Victor Wanyama in the pecking order of Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield, as reported by Football.london.
During a Q&A, the website was asked about the prospect of Troy Parrott and Japhet Tanganga getting first-team minutes, but they have suggested that it is Skipp who is likely to get time on the pitch in the Premier League.
Skipp has made a total of five starts and 10 substitute appearances in all competitions for Spurs across his career, getting 2 assists, as per Transfermarkt.
What is perhaps a sign that the 19-year-old is close to getting a greater number of appearances is that he has featured in the squad 41 times, having already done so on six occasions in the Premier League this campaign.
Last season he started two league matches and came off the bench in six, while he has already come off the bench in two league games this campaign, though each of those appearances only lasted a solitary minute – even so, this shows that Pochettino is keen to get him involved.
The winter period is certainly a good time for Skipp to be given more opportunities at Spurs, with it being a time where the schedule is more congested.
On the other hand, this isn’t a good sign for Wanyama’s future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Pochettino looking to sell him in January, as reported by The Daily Mail.
