Tottenham Hotspur have moved for Jose Mourinho to be their manager in the past, as reported by football.london.
This news comes after reports that the Portuguese manager is monitoring Mauricio Pochettino’s current situation, with Spurs having struggled this season.
Spurs’ recent games have brought the feeling of humiliation, with the team having drawn against Olympiacos, lost to Colchester United on penalties, been thrashed 7-2 by Bayern Munich and beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion, as per Transfermarkt.
While stating that Spurs have previously made a move for Mourinho, football.london claim the man they went for was “a different version of him”.
They suggest that the Mourinho of his Porto days would need to be rediscovered for him to fit in at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, adding that the likelihood of this happening is pretty small 15 years on.
In their comment on the matter during a Q&A, they have dismissed the chance of the 56-year-old taking the Spurs hot seat, even if Pochettino is dismissed.
They are right, Mourinho and Spurs just don’t seem like a very good fit, especially with Daniel Levy at the helm, with his tight control over the club’s finances.
After all, Mourinho has grown accustomed to using large amounts of money to build his squad, as indicated by the fact he spent a combined £223.83 on Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Fred at Manchester United, as per Transfermarkt.
Will this be Mauricio Pochettino's last season at Tottenham?
