Two Spurs players could be set to move to Fulham as the Cottagers identify what they will spend the Ryan Sessegnon money on once when he moves to Tottenham (The Telegraph).
The Champions League finalists are reportedly going to have to pay £20million to take the 19-year-old away from the west London side.
And those funds which go to the newly relegated side could be spent on Georges-Kevin N’koudou and Josh Onomah, both of whom are out-of-favour with Mauricio Pochettino.
N’koudou has made just 26 appearances for the team since joining three years ago, while Onomah has not featured for the Lilywhites since the 2016/17 campaign.
If Pochettino can offload the two players in question and secure Sessegnon then it will be a shrewd piece of business from the Argentine.
This is because he is doing exactly what a manager should be doing in the transfer window for – plugging holes which need filling and selling those who are occupying wasted places in the squad.
So, with Sessegnon still only in his late teens – coupled with the fact that he has proven he does have talent in the Championship with 16 goals – it is not a bad deal for Spurs, despite the fact that Rose is a far more experienced defender at the top level.
When it comes to N’koudou, he has played the majority of his games for Spurs on the left-wing – a position Heung-min Son essentially locked down last season with another 20 goals, and one which Eriksen can also play if he stays.
And then Onomah’s two most common positions while at Spurs have been on the right of midfield and in an attacking midfield role.
In particular, it will be near-impossible for him to be given a chance through the middle due to Tanguy Ndombele and potentially Giovani Lo Celso adding to Moussa Sissoko, Harry Winks, Oliver Skipp, Dele Alli Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama.
Right now, given their lack of appearances, they are dead weight in the squad so bringing in a young prospect in a position which needs backing up while recouping the money for unwanted players would be incredibly smart on Pochettino’s part.
