VAR and its use in the Premier League has been one of the most talked-about subjects this season, and Tottenham’s clash against Sheffield United only added more fuel to the fire.

With the score at 1-0 to Tottenham in the second half, David McGoldrick had seemingly put the game back on level terms, yet VAR ruled the goal off as John Lundstram’s toe was marginally offside after four minutes of debate between the referee and officials at Stockley Park (per BBC Sport).
Despite having a goal against them wiped off, Spurs fans on social media were annoyed McGoldrick’s strike didn’t stand as it seemed like the Sheffield United player was unfairly done over as the offside call was extremely marginal, with Tottenham supporters frustrated with how much VAR is affecting the game and how annoying the new technology has been since its introduction.
