Tottenham Hotspur travel to Everton today as they look to recover from the Liverpool loss and begin climbing the table.
Should Tottenham sell Dele Alli?
Spurs currently sit 11th in the league with 12 points from 10 matches, which will not be deemed as good enough for a club of their stature.
Mauricio Pochettino could make changes to the team that faced Liverpool in order to get an upturn in results at Goodison Park, here are two suggestions for what he should do, with a 4-1-2-1-2 formation in mind:
Tanguy Ndombele for Dele Alli
Tanguy Ndombele could be used as one of the midfield’s central two, having given a glimpse of what he can do during his limited time on the pitch against Liverpool.
He made two key passes during that game, which was the joint-highest total of any Spurs player, as per WhoScored.
Meanwhile, Dele Alli was ineffective during that game, completing just 69% of his passes, being dispossessed 3 times and getting his 1 shot of the game off target.
Giovani Lo Celso for Christian Eriksen
Despite coming onto the pitch in the 88th minute of Spurs’ game against Liverpool, Giovani Lo Celso made just 11 fewer passes than Christian Eriksen.
This comes in a season where many Spurs fans have been left frustrated by the Dane and his performances, so he should be taken out of the team following another disappointing showing.
Lo Celso hasn’t started a game this season, largely due to injury issues, so while it may not be realistic for him to play the whole 90 minutes, he should start the game at the tip of Spurs’ midfield, having scored 16 times across La Liga and the Europa League last campaign.
