Tottenham Hotspur weighing up swap deal

The Tottenham Hotspur fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern have their trust placed firmly with Mauricio Pochettino and the current regime. There’s little doubt about that.

Still, the insatiable nature of the summer transfer window has some of them desperately scouring the net for further rumours and reports.

With Champions League football on the way, the North London locals are waiting with baited breath as the infamous Deadline Day fast approaches.

They’ve not had to look too far today, following claims in the Daily Mirror.

According to the report, the club are considering a swap deal with Championship side Newcastle United, one that would reportedly see Moussa Sissoko arrive in part-exchange for Nabil Bentaleb.

The former is seemingly desperate to leave St. James’ Park following their relegation last season after starring for France at Euro 2016.

Following his performances for Les Blues over the course of the summer, the 27-year-old has put himself firmly in the shop window it seems.

With that in mind, the report suggests Pochettino is ready to bring the former Toulouse man to White Hart Lane, in an effort to further round out his squad.

In order to do so, he could reportedly include Algerian international Bentaleb as part of any deal.

He has seen his progress stall over the past season or so, following his formidable emergence under previous boss Tim Sherwood. Often enough, he’s lamented by our North London locals.

The arrival of Victor Wanyama has further bolstered holding midfield ranks, in a department already boasting the likes of Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele.

Would Sissoko improve Spurs? Could Bentaleb be a huge coup for the Championship? Let us know below!
