It’s about time Daniel Levy put his hands in his pockets! Tottenham must improve their squad if they have any chance of a title challenging next year, and Ivan Perisic is the man to help them reach that next level.

Tuttomercatoweb are claiming Spurs are interested in the forward who is valued at £30m by his club. The report says Levy is only willing to offer £20m, but he must stop playing hardball and do what it takes to acquire the players Mauricio Pochettino needs.

The move could spell the end of Erik Lamela’s hit and miss Spurs career, with him already out of the side before any potential summer incomings, but that’d be part of a squad refresh the team needs. Spurs have a new stadium, and with some new players they could take on a new winning mentality.

Perisic has made 24 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring four and assisting three. His stats aren’t mind-blowing, but his overall link-up play and creativity would ensure Harry Kane gets even more service than he already does.

If Spurs can keep hold of Christian Eriksen, he and Perisic would be a frightening thought. But that can only become reality if Levy decides to finally put his money where his mouth is. Spurs can’t claim to be moving towards becoming one of the best sides in Europe without spending money and signing the players to back it up.

Lamela has been stagnant at Spurs for too long, and it’s time he was replaced by a star who’s the next level up. The only way Spurs can win titles is by upgrading their squad in summer, and this would be a perfect start.
