Tottenham fans are surely begging Daniel Levy to spend money this summer, but at right-back, they have their Trippier replacement already in the squad. Juan Foyth would save the club millions if he gets the chance.
Mauricio Pochettino is happy for the Lilywhites to offload Kieran Trippier in the summer for no less than £50m, according to Football Insider, so there’ll be a hole down the right. Serge Aurier doesn’t look up to scratch, but Foyth can be the man to fill it.
The 21-year-old has made 13 appearances across all four competitions this season, even bagging his first Premier League goal in the process. He’s shown he has the passing ability and work-rate to make it at the top level.
Of course, he’s nowhere near the finished product just yet, but he’s young and keen to impress. If Pochettino puts faith in him next season by not purchasing a big-money right-back in summer, then the Argentinian will prove his worth.
Spurs might have to prioritise the midfield and goalkeeping positions this transfer window considering the current shape of their squad and they can use the money gained from Trippier’s sale to improve those positions instead. Indeed, it’s pointless wasting so much at right-back when they have a talented understudy waiting to step up.
His natural position is centre-back and so he’ll be comfortable tucking inside to overload the centre of the park when Spurs are high up the pitch and in possession.
He seems a perfect fit, so Pochettino should give him a chance next season.
