It’s not all doom and gloom for Spurs who have apparently (as per the Daily Star) been offered the chance to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Julian Draxler as a potential replacement for Christian Eriksen.

The Spurs star, who recently lost out to Liverpool in the Champions League final, announced his intention to leave the club, this week, also apparently putting Real Madrid and Inter Milan on red alert.

According to the Star's report, PSG are hoping to take advantage of the situation at Spurs, with Draxler deemed surplus to requirements as the club try desperately to sell players in order to meet financial fair play regulations, by offering those in the North London the World Cup winners' services for around £35m.

While, considering his lack of regular game time in comparison, it's hard to argue that Draxler is on the same level as Eriksen, who grabbed 10 goals and 17 assists in all competitions this term, the German’s tally of five goals and 12 assists certainly isn’t anything to snarl at. A hugely exciting figure during his initial breakthrough at Schalke, the 25-year-old would certainly come with a very high level of footballing pedigree.

Back in 2017, ESPN's Gab Marcotti even suggested the Gladbeck-born ace could be his country's next superstar and though his career hasn't exactly followed that trajectory just yet, it's easy to see that this is a very highly rated individual.

So, although the midfielder is understood not to be high on Tottenham’s wish list, with Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso occupying that spot, Daniel Levy and Pochettino should perhaps be inspired by the performances of former Paris outcast Lucas Moura, who’s been in fine form this season netting 15 times – three of which came during the iconic Champions League fixture against Ajax.

Indeed, with 33 Ligue 1 games and 22 starts under his belt during Paris Saint-Germain’s title-winning season, Draxler, who was reportedly an Arsenal target last year, could give Spurs some much-needed quality in a midfield unit that currently comprises of Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko.

Noted by Marcotti in the aforementioned report for his ability to conjure space between midfield and attack, that does sound like something Tottenham could use if Eriksen does indeed depart. With a £35m fee mentioned, that seems like potentially good business.

Spurs fans, would you be happy with Draxler coming in? How many signings do you believe you realistically need to make to subsidise the missing quality of Eriksen? Let us know in the comments below…
