Having beaten Manchester City just before the international break, the Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern have been talking up their title chances.
With Mauricio Pochettino at the helm, the Argentine coach has constructed a hugely dynamic young side, one seemingly capable of pulling off another title challenge.
Still, tomorrow’s opponents West Bromwich Albion represent a sticking point for Spurs, having helped derail their challenge to Leicester City last season.
So, reports from ESPN have come as a blow for the north London locals.
They’ve revealed that key midfielder Mousa Dembele will miss the clash with the Baggies, having injured his foot in training.
The imposing Belgian is one of Pochettino’s key cogs and a huge part of the first-team set-up at White Hart Lane.
He was forced to pull out of Roberto Martinez’s Belgian squad and the knock to his left foot is a recurrence of the one he suffered last summer.
“He had a minor problem in his hamstring against Sunderland,” Pochettino told a news conference.
“Then it was good but he got a knock in his foot in training — an old problem — and now he’s recovering from that. It’s minor but it’s painful for him. When he touches the ball, it’s painful.”
How big a loss will Dembele be? Let us know below…
