Tottenham man back in contention after missing Champions League battle

Tottenham fans here in the Tavern are hoping that injuries don’t have any effect on the weekend’s result, as Spurs are currently suffering from a minor crisis.

Indeed, having been overshadowed by Hugo Lloris during his time in North London thus far, goalkeeper Michel Vorm continues to wait patiently for a regular place in the Spurs starting XI. Although, in a season that’s seen his goalkeeping counterpart pull of magnificent saves at key moments, it looks unlikely that the Dutchman will be able to make any inroads.

And, as if things weren’t already difficult enough for Vorm, the 34-year-old is currently nursing an illness that kept him out of Tuesday’s Champions League draw with Juventus. However, Fitness Expert Ben Dinnery has revealed some promising news for Spurs fans on Twitter.

According to Dinnery, Michel Vorm is set to return to the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup clash away at Rochdale.

This is a huge boost for Mauricio Pochettino who was at risk of having no back-up ‘keeper for Hugo Lloris, but now that Michel Vorm is making a return it’ll allow for the Frenchman to earn some much-needed rest. And, with a busy schedule involving numerous competitions on the horizon, a healthy second-choice keeper will be a welcome sign to both fans and the manager.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The return of Michel Vorm is massive for Tottenham, with any possible injury to Hugo Lloris now being covered by the Dutchman. And, with the opportunity to go out and showcase his talents in the cup competition, an inspired performance could see him receive an extended amount of appearances as they approach a busy period for Spurs.
