Our Tottenham fans here in the Transfer Tavern really are hoping that their side is going to get going in the summer market before too long.
The men from White Hart Lane (Wembley this season) have yet to sign anyone into their squad and though they have an impressive bunch already, a few new faces wouldn’t go amiss.
For sure, then, Mauricio Pochettino would be expected to change that before too long but whilst we wait to see if he does, Kevin Wimmer could be one man to leave before the end of the window.
Indeed, according to The Daily Mail, Southampton have seen him as an ideal replacement for Virgil van Dijk – should the Dutchman leave the club in this market.
The Dutchman has been training alone for Southampton at the moment with plenty of speculation circulating over his future, it makes sense that the Saints have got a contingency plan in place.
Wimmer, meanwhile, would surely be keen on the move, too, with him not really getting a look-in at Spurs given the form of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Wimmer’s not really shown what he can do at Spurs.
When he has played he’s been pretty average at best whilst he’s also been limited to minutes thanks to his Belgian team-mates stealing the show at the back.
He’d likely jump at the chance to play for Saints, then, but it’s not even nailed on that he’d start regularly at the south coast club.
