You have to feel that this summer must be different for Tottenham Hotspur.

Despite their hugely impressive season, recruitment must be a priority for Spurs if they are to continue challenging for silverware and taking things to the next level.

There are a number of areas of the squad that fans would like to see be improved with some quality, whilst an individual that would be able to provide a number of different options on the pitch would certainly be an attractive proposition for Mauricio Pochettino and his side.

Thus, it would seem that they have one man that can tick all those boxes and more on their radar this summer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Olympique de Lyonnais' Maxwel Cornet is thought to be on Tottenham's wishlist after an impressive campaign with the Ligue 1 outfit.

The 22-year-old Ivorian, arguably, made himself known by English football fans with his performances against Manchester City in the Champions League group stages earlier in the season, having scored three goals in the two meetings.

Having had to make do with a place on the substitutes bench for the majority of the season, his impact is something that can not be ignored. 10 goals and five assists in his 35 appearances is some going!

Cornet can play on either flank or as a focal point of the attack, which would provide Pochettino with a number of different attacking options. For example, the £10.8million-rated ace (Transfermarkt) could fill in for the likes of Lucas Moura or Heung-min Son, or he could be used as an understudy for Harry Kane - as his injuries have started to cause a little concern.

Goals throughout the team, that's what is in order at Tottenham.

What also makes the youngster a hugely attractive proposition for Spurs and Pochettino is the fact that he is still a young man. The Ivory Coast international is still a raw talent that has plenty of promise and if the Argentine can work his magic with him, who knows just how good the 22-year-old could turn out!

Cornet appears to tick all the boxes and looks to fit the mould that Tottenham are going for when looking for new recruits.
