Tottenham have endured a faultless start to the season, something that has seen rivals quiver and wonder just how much of a title threat they could be during this campaign.
Mauricio Pochettino is a top manager that certainly himself has the potential to take Tottenham very far but many believed Chairman Daniel Levy prohibited the club’s success this summer by not spending a single penny on new players.
However, it must be said that so far, Tottenham have looked unfazed and with great team togetherness, the sky could be the limit for Spurs in their first campaign in their new ground.
Any great teams usually have great squad depth and Tottenham can’t yet say they have that and that is something they must look to improve on during the January transfer window. Moussa Sissoko is a midfielder that could definitely be improved upon for a title-chasing team, and a top replacement for the Frenchman could be Zenit’s Paredes.
Leonardo Paredes, who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt, has been Zenit’s star ever since making the move to Russia in 2017. The Argentinian midfielder made a bold move in swapping a promising career with Roma and opting for Zenit, where he has since showcased his very best ability.
The 24-year-old has years ahead of him to reach peak performances and Tottenham can be the lucky club to have him during that point. Pass-master Paredes provided 11 assists last season, a fantastic record for a player who’s role is normally to provide defensive cover for Zenit’s backline.
Tottenham would certainly be lucky to have a player of Paredes’ quality, seeing as already this season the midfielder has popped up with two goals and an assist, despite predominantly being a defensive-midfielder.
