Tottenham not keen on Premier League valuation with club yet to enter summer of spending

The Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern really are eager to see their club get in on the summer spending party as soon as possible.

With Mauricio Pochettino yet to add to his ranks, our local Lillywhites are seriously concerned about their lack of improvement over the course of the summer break. Indeed, they want Daniel Levy to splash the cash ASAP.

Which is why reports from the Daily Mail have annoyed them even further. They claim the club are unlikely to pay £20m to land Leicester City’s England U21 star Demarai Gray this summer.

The winger’s representatives are understood to have met with the Foxes over his future in the east Midlands, reportedly telling the former Premier League champions he will look to leave unless he’s assured of playing time.

Leicester are believed to have stressed the 21-year-old is not for sale, though both Spurs and Everton are said to be keen on him. Undoubtedly a big talent, even £20m for the former Birmingham City youngster hasn’t put our local Spurs fans off the idea of signing him.

An exciting young Englishman, they’re eager to see him arrive on Hotspur Way.

Landlord’s Verdict

Yes, £20m may seem like a big fee. Still, considering the market these days, a homegrown player of such talent will only rapidly increase in value and not moving for him now could bite Tottenham in the long run.

Considering Pochettino’s track record when working with young English talents, Tottenham should explore this opportunity.
