Tottenham ready to ward off Euro giants and tie superstar attacker to £80,000 a week deal

Things are on the up for Tottenham Hotspur as the tears begin to dry in the eyes of our Transfer Tavern locals who saw their title hopes ended on Monday night.

Despite missing out to Leicester City, few of our Spurs supporting locals would argue against the idea that this has been a landmark season for the club and there is huge excitement in North London.

That’ll only be added to then, with reports in the Daily Mail, that playmaker Christian Eriksen is set to commit his future to the club by signing a new long-term deal.

The Dane has been one of the few bright spots to come from the money used on acquiring talent following Gareth Bale’s colossal sale to Real Madrid in 2013.

He’s been in excellent form this season, scoring seven goals and registering a further 13 assists in Mauricio Pochettino’s impressive side.

As a result, the club are set to reward him with a four-and-a-half-year deal that will take the former Ajax man up to around £80,000 per week and make him one of the club’s top earners.

Italian giants Juventus had been linked with making a move for the Denmark ace, though he is said to want to continue working under Pochettino.

How much better can Eriksen get, considering he’s only 23? Will he get to the level of Mesut Ozil?
