Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern are delighted with the latest news they’re discussing at the bar, which has seen a major deal completed.
The club have confirmed that 20-year-old defender Kyle Walker-Peters has penned a new deal lasting until 2020, capping off what has been a fantastic few months for the young defender that follows his U20 World Cup success and an impressive Premier League debut.
It’s his third deal in the space of 18 months and he’s now set to become a key-part of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team squad, stepping into the side fantastically following the sale of Kyle Walker and injury to Kieran Trippier.
A shining debut against Newcastle United on the opening weekend of the Premier League season has left Spurs looking towards their youth once again rather than elect to sign a new face, a route that has seen them achieve plenty of success in recent years.
Whether Walker-Peters can shine in the Champions League and stay ahead of Trippier in the pecking order remains to be seen but the early signs are very good for the Lilywhites.
Tottenham Hotspur fans may be frustrated by their club’s decision not to spend money in the transfer market this summer, especially following their transfer windfall that came with Kyle Walker’s sale, but it’s difficult to argue with Mauricio Pochettino’s success.
The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Eric Dier have become sensational figures at Tottenham Hotspur in North London and the fans should put faith in Pochettino to get the best out of Walker-Peters over the course of next season and beyond.
