If Tottenham are wanting to close the gap and become proper title contenders and silverware chasers next season, they must spend big this summer. Every Spurs fan - especially the ones reading this - must be absolutely starving for some signings and, well, who can blame them?

It’s obvious Spurs didn’t sign a single player during this season and although for much of the campaign they have been in good form, they seem to have now burnt out. Despite progress into the Champions League quarter-final, their league form has taken a wobble, something of concern considering that their place in the top four is not yet secure. As we're sure you'll agree, the playing staff just need a lift.

As well as that, next season, players are already been linked with moves away from Tottenham and even if they do somehow manage to enjoy some success from now until the end of the season, Christian Eriksen, for example, is someone who may not stay.

In his place would have to be someone established as a top player, something Lyon's Nabil Fekir certainly is.

Fekir, (who is valued at £63 million on Transfermarkt) would be the perfect replacement should Tottenham's current most creative source leave the club. It would be hugely disappointing for Spurs fans to see Eriksen leave but, should someone like Fekir arrive in his place, all worries will suddenly disappear.

The Frenchman has again enjoyed a great personal season for Lyon, as he's totalled 12 goals and seven assists in 30 appearances.

Fekir, 25, is arguably more versatile than Eriksen and could be used out wide, down the middle in his usual attacking-midfield role or playing as support to Harry Kane.

Possibilities are endless should Tottenham acquire a player with the quality that Nail Fekir has so this is a deal Mauricio Pochettino must look to push through. Linked with a move for him in January, bringing the World Cup winner to their new home would be a huge statement.
