Now the hassle with the stadium is over, it’s about time Daniel Levy invested heavily into the team to please those fans even more. For the Spurs fans reading this, the idea that the team are a work in progress must be hugely frustrating – they’re clearly one of the best teams in Europe – so it’s time they acted as such.
So, with the amazing new home open for business, Tottenham will be hoping that they can progress and transform into a successful side to match the glamour and lure of the new ground. Yes, it’s nice to look at but those fans are more concerned with who is out on the pitch for Tottenham as trophies have eluded their reach for far too long now.
Big European sides are constantly being linked with some of Tottenham’s best players and every year, it is getting considerably harder to keep hold of those valued stars.
Although it may be an unpopular move for some, many believe that Tottenham should continue building for the future and sign players who will reach their prime in a few years time. With that in mind, a defender like Brentford’s Ezri Konsa, for example, could be a brilliant player to add to their ranks.
Konsa, (who is valued at £3.1 million on Transfermarkt) is one of many young Championship players really presenting how good of an option they could be for a big club like Tottenham. The 21-year-old was snapped up by Brentford last summer and already in his debut campaign, has shown what immense potential he possesses.
And, former Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson even labelled Konsa as ‘incredible’ when talking about his physique (as per Valley Gold), so he could be a real rock at the back for Spurs.
Linked by the Sun with a move to both Spurs and Arsenal towards the back end of 2018, he seems like the archetypal Pochettino signing. A young, tactically astute talent emerging from the Football League, he’d be a wonderful addition for a relatively low fee and help Spurs deal with the phasing out of the ageing Jan Vertonghen.
He is not only a great passer of the ball and a fantastic reader of the game but also, Ezri Konsa can be used anywhere from centre-back to right-back or even defensive-midfield. That’s the kind of versatility that’ll surely make him such a hot property going forward, so Tottenham can’t afford to miss out.
