Tottenham: Some fans were amused by Giovani Lo Celso’s first goal for club

Football has the power to evoke an entire range of emotions from supporters, yet comedy is hardly one of them, but Tottenham provided just that against Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

Giovani Lo Celso, who joined Tottenham on deadline day this summer on a loan deal from Real Betis (per BBC Sport), opened his account for the Premier League side with one of the most amusing goals of the season so far as the Argentine international saw the ball hit both the post and the crossbar before the 23-year-old midfielder eventually converted to finally open the scoring for Spurs in what was a frantic phase of football.
And Spurs supporters on social media found the brief moment in the game amusing, with fans commenting on how weird the goal was as well as throwing out suggestions that it was a strike that essentially summed up Tottenham’s season despite Mauricio Pochettino’s side claiming their first away win of the season on the night (per BBC Sport).
Here’s what some Tottenham fans had to say about Lo Celso’s goal for the north London club, with supporters highlighting just how odd the strike was…
Thought I was watching crossbar challenge for a minute tbf – 4 shots in as many seconds. But look at that – Lo Celso’s first start and a goal. Today’s Eriksen could never.

It would have summed up our season if that didn’t finish in a goal for us..
